Ristna Visitor Centre

Ristna Visitor Centre at the core of RMK Hiiumaa Recreation Area is located on Kõpu–Ristna road, in Kalana village on the Kõpu peninsula. Should you come by public transport, exit at the Metsavahi bus stop in front of the nature centre. Here you can find information about all the natural sights and recreation possibilities of the area.
In the main house there are a photo exhibitions and educational exhibition called "The Department Store of the Sea" is open in the second building.
From the visitor centre's yard starts a study trail that introduces old-growth forests and forestry heritage.
In the visitor centre you can craft, there's a play area for children, watch nature films and use our library.
We have free wifi.

  • “Sea Department Store”

The permanent exhibition in the Ristna Nature Centre’s outbuilding introduces marine debris and the effects of sea littering.

In the main house kitchen equipped with electric stove, refridgerator, microwave and coffee machine, tableware for 20 people, pots and pans.

SightsAt the centre you can get acquainted with cultural heritage in the surrounding forests and take a look at the authentic primeval forest. Longer and shorter walks to the lighthouses of the Kõpu peninsula, Ristna military defence structures, and Kalana port. A few-kilometre hike through the forest takes you to the scenic sand beaches on the island’s northern coast.
