Sakala Recreation Area

On the hiking trails of the Sakala Recreation Area one can feel the spirit of the ancient forest people. The wetlands, bogs and primeval forests, largely untouched by human activity, are an ideal place for reflecting on your roots, communicating with the forest spirits, tracing the activities of wild game and fowl, and looking for your place in nature’s circle of life. The forest paths are attractive in their simplicity, isolation and loneliness. Spending the night at a campfire, waking up in the forest hut on a crisp March morning to the sound of the courting capercaillies and black grouse, swimming in a refreshing bog lake or a day’s walk on the sandy hills of the ozone-rich pine forest offer a perfect break from your hectic everyday routine.
