Meiekose study trail (5.6 km)

Viljandi County, Soomaa National Park
Due to heavy rains and meadow management, the middle part of the trail has become impassable.
Meiekose hiking trail takes you on a tour along the former Kõpu–Jõesuu roadbed to see the flooded meadows of the Tõramaa river mouth, which are a part of the semi-natural landscapes of Soomaa. The attractions of the trail are flooded meadows, different plant species, scenic river bends, and ancient oak trees.

LocationSandra village, Põhja-Sakala municipality, Viljandi County / Riisa village, Tori municipality, Pärnu County. Object no 3 on the national park map.
Driving directionsThe study trail is accessible from the parking area located at 26 km along Kõpu–Jõesuu road, or 200 m towards Tõramaa from the Meiekose bridge over the Raudna River.
When coming from the direction of Tallinn–Pärnu–Tori, drive to Tori, turn onto the Võlli road that leads to the national park. Drive 6 km along Jõesuu road to Jõesuu village and before driving into the village, turn right onto Kõpu–Jõesuu road. From the bridge over the Halliste River in Riisa village drive 5.2 km straight on to the parking area and the sign marking the start of the study trail.
When coming from Tartu or Viljandi, drive along Tartu–Viljandi–Pärnu road to Kõpu. After passing the cemetery, turn right to the Kõpu–Jõesuu road. From there it is 25 km to the parking area and the sign marking the start of the trail.
