Verijärve hiking trail (1 km)
Võru County, Haanja–Karula Recreation Area
The 1 km Lake Verijärv hiking trail runs along the lakeshore and through the pine forest surrounding the lake. Along the trail there are information boards introducing the trees and bushes, plants, mosses, lichens, amphibians, birds and mammals that live here. A few hundred metres from the start of the hiking trail, near Vastseliina road, there is a parking area and information site introducing the nature reserves of Võru County, with the maps of the reserves and hiking trails in the county.

Amenities | The trail goes along the high shore of Lake Verijärv and in the park forest. The trail starts at Kose, 200 m from the Aiandi bus stop towards Vastseliina. There are wooden signs and information boards along the trail, 3 campfire rings with barbecue grills, picnic tables, dry toilet. |

The hiking trail is in Verijärve Landscape Protection Area, information about restrictions can be obtained from the Environmental Board (+372 662 5999, info@keskkonnaamet.ee). |

Driving directions | Drive 2.2 km from Võru along Võru–Luhamaa road (Road no. 2) to the Aiandi bus stop. After the bus stop there is a parking area to the right of the road with 6 information boards introducing the nature reserves of Võru County. 100 m before the parking area there is an information board and picnic table by the side of the road. Go by the stairs to the hiking trail (follow the sign). |
